In this video, physiotherapist Tim Allardyce explains what a patient can expect from a physiotherapy appointment. Tim is focusing on upper back and shoulder exercises:
• Lift your arms up in front of you, then move them all the way past your head and back down again.
• Lift your arms to the side and turn your palms so they are facing up. Then move the arms all the way above your head and back down again.
• Take your right hand across your left, and now left behind right. Move them back down again.
• Now, turn around. Reach behind your back with your right arm and move it up as far as you comfortably can. Then move them back down.
• Staying with your right arm, lift it up to scratch the back of your neck and then reach down your spine. Repeat this exercise with your left arm.
• Look over your left should and then your right shoulder. Bend the left ear down to the left side and the right ear down to the right side. Press the chin down to chest and extend back.
These exercises show that physiotherapy treatments are gentle and painless. Anyone considering physiotherapy but is still apprehensive should discuss their concerns with their doctor.
