If you go to the GP, the GP might or might not examine you but will listen carefully to your symptoms and decide if it sounds as if there's anything to worry about. And then advise some treatment which usually involves a suppository that you put in your back passage. I always give people a pack of 12 and say put one in your back passage every night for about a week and usually the whole problem sorts itself out. If it doesn't, the person absolutely must come back. I never leave it more than a week, I would refer that person for a more detailed investigation.
