Treatments for Haemorrhoids

Visiting a doctor about piles can be embarrassing. However, your doctor will first listen to you talk about your symptoms and may or may not examine you.

Piles are most commonly treated with a suppository inserted up your back passage. One suppository inserted before you go to bed for a week will in most cases clear up all of the haemorrhoids. However, if you are still suffering with symptoms after this treatment it is vital that you revisit your doctor who on this occasion will most likely refer you for further investigation to determine if something else might be causing the piles.

Creams are also available over the counter for mild cases of piles, however if symptoms persist you should visit their doctor.

Whilst suffering with haemorrhoids it is important to drink plenty of water and eat fresh fruit and vegetables every day. This will reduce the likelihood of you becoming constipated, which can irritate piles further.
