Christopher EdenAnuradha Arasu

Anuradha Arasu attended the Royal Free and University College Medical School and graduated with an MBBS in 2006 after winning the London Lock Hospital Memorial Prize in Sexually Transmitted Diseases and the Stuart Mill Prize in Tropical Medicine. During her medical degree she did an intercalated BA in Medical Journalism and achieved a First.

She went on to train in General Practice on the Riverside scheme, and developed her interests by achieving a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in October 2008, a Diploma in Child Health in November 2009 and a Diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare in April 2010. She became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in March 2010 and a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in June 2011.

She works as a GP for an NHS practice in the Knightsbridge area and is also involved in commissioning and medical education. She has taught and examined University College London and Imperial Medical students, and last year presented a research project at the Society for Academic Primary Care to encourage more GPs to teach.

Her current interests include cancer prevention: she is a spokesperson for Cancer Research and last year was part of an expert panel for the Greater London Authority looking at how to improve prevention and early diagnosis of cancer. She is the Dr for the Metro newspaper, writes a monthly column for Natural Health magazine on complementary medicine and frequently appears on Channel 5 news commenting on the latest health stories.
